Smart Blogger Challenge Finale: 4 Things Bloggers Always Forget

Saturday, February 21, 2015 Stef dela Cruz, MD 0 Comments

I can’t believe it; it’s the last day of the 21-Day Smart Blogger Challenge! Hurray! You made it! I made it! (Hey, writing one blog post each day for 21 days is a challenge for me, too!)

Alright, enough exclamation marks – we can’t gloat just yet because we haven’t finished today’s reading task. It’s about four important things that serious bloggers always forget when trying to build a loyal following. I’m also announcing the winners of the PhP10,000 grand giveaway, so make sure you join before it ends tomorrow!

We blog and we blog, but who keeps coming back to our blogs? Do we really have loyal readers, or do they just stumble upon our posts because of Google’s search engine?

And if readers come across our blogs, do they want to come back? If not, why? If so, what makes them keep coming back for more?

vanity metrics

If you’re still focusing on your vanity metrics, stop. I know those numbers are important to some publicists and marketing experts, but those numbers don’t necessarily convert to either engagement or genuine readership.

Do vanity metrics matter to you?

Instead of focusing on numbers, focus on content that leads to happy readers – and, perhaps, even better numbers. But I’m spoiling the reading task, aren’t I?

day 21

Day 21 Reading Task:
4 things bloggers forget when building an audience

Notice number 3? Regardless of the giveaway I’m holding now, it holds true. Remember that the giveaway I’m currently holding for the Smart Blogger Giveaway isn’t about gaining more readers – it’s about giving back. That’s why I don’t require any “social actions” if you want to participate!

Thank you for being part of the 21-Day Smart Blogger Challenge! You made it! Consider yourself a better, smarter blogger!

How did you find the challenge? Did you have fun completing all the reading tasks? Simply backtrack through the website if you missed any of the daily readings tasks.
