Smart Blogger Challenge Day 14: Loving Your Haters

Saturday, February 14, 2015 Stef dela Cruz, MD 0 Comments

Today, we conclude the second week of the 21-Day Smart Blogger Challenge! How do you feel about it? Do you hate me yet?

Speaking of hate, do you ever get haters because of your blog? I’ve always been of the opinion that the best bloggers get haters. When a blogger is so passionate about what he does, he’s bound to have loyal readers… and haters!

day 14

You get haters because there will be people who can’t help but disagree. Perhaps your haters are there because they feel threatened and want to bring you down. Whatever the reason for your haters’ existence, you need to get a grip when they start leaving hate comments on your blog.

Haters, anyone?

In real life, we also have haters, whether we like it or not. There’s that person who acts like a friend yet always seems to undermine you one way or another. There’s that person who can’t get over the fact that you’re somehow better – and his envy turns to hatred.

Oh, there are many ways hatred manifests in the real world. But, thanks to the protection that online anonymity has to offer, there are more ways that hatred rears its ugly head in the blogosphere!

They exist in the form of trolls, flamers, commenters who leave seemingly agreeable posts only to disagree with you at every turn, and haters who disguise themselves as fans on your Facebook fan page. Sound familiar?

Haters Can Be Good for Us: 21-Day Smart Blogger Challenge Day 14

As much as we hate haters, we gotta love them, too. They’re part of the “engagement” we want. Here’s a hard fact: If your blog post doesn’t get trolls, then your blog post ain’t viral, baby!

So, for today’s reading task, let’s focus on why something as negative as haters can be good news. Have fun reading!
